The first people to live in Yosemite were the Ahwahnechee native americans. When the California gold rush began, a great tension came between the white's and the natives. A war began. Their efforts led to Yosemite national park in 1890. Changes in landscape: Sierra Nevada has been moved and shifted along a local fault line for a very long time.
