Article title: An Earth Without People
Author: Alan Weisman
Key Points:
- The power would first start to go off.
- Within 48 hours, New York would be flooded
- Corrosion will happen in underground tunnels and then collapse under the city
- Buildings will start to fall as they are prone to waterlog
- More hurricanes will happen more as the climate will slowly start to change and adapt from our activities
- The abandoned places on earth are the best places to study the future of the environments in crowded places
- Africa is a place where humans and animals evolved together
- It'll take 15000 years for Manhattan to finally fall.
- Forests will spread across North America.
Summary:
It's hard to believe how much the human race has gone into upgrading and making the human civilization that way it is now. If we were to leave the earth, it is hard to imagine what the things we have left behind could impact the life of the organisms left on earth. Even in the first forty-eight hours, our sewage remnants are able to cause a flood on the city. Without our maintenance on the things we have, underground tunnels will begin to collapse on cities, power will suddenly shut down, even buildings will start to fall in a decent amount of time after we have left. As things start to quiet down, animals will slowly move into our neighborhoods and forests will take over the world like they have used to.
My thoughts on this topic:
If we were to have gone out of the earth's presence will it impact it in a positive or negative way? I believe that our actions have impacted the earth already in a negative way. I think our absence would be positive towards the earth and it's organisms. Without us, carbon dioxide won't be released, pollution will be released but it'll decay over time, and everything will be back in it's original shape . It might take a while to get the earth back on it's normal feet as our pollution is still present all over the earth but eventually animals will have their right homes back and trees will grow more.
So what?plants will slowly start to grow back and animals will begin to move into their natural habitats
What if?Humans left for a couple years and then came back?
