Apes Chapter 2 Notes:
Scientific Theory: A scheme of many examples of evidence and observations
Hypothesis: An educated guess using an "If and Then" statement. Variables -Dependent: A variable with a value that depends on another. -Independent: A variable that does not depend on another. -Manipulated: A variable that is changed to see it's effects of others relying on it. -Responding: A variable that is relying on the independent variable. Controlled Experiment: A clone of the actual experiment with the value of one variable tested. Repeatability: For other scientists to be able to conduct the same experiment over and over again. Data: -Quantitative: Data based on numbers -Qualitative: Data based non-numerically Scientific Method: Step 1:Observe the data and question what you observed Step 2: Conduct a hypothesis Step 3: Start a controlled experiment based off the hypothesis to test if its true Step 4: Gather data Step 5: Distinguish your data. Step 6: Make a conclusion based off the data Step 7: Compare the conclusion and hypothesis to know if it is true or not Step 8: Make other experiments if the hypothesis is true. It the hypothesis is declined, make a new hypothesis |
