Article Title: Excessive Product Packaging
Key Points:
Summary:
Product packaging may not seem like much but there is a whole world behind it. Product packaging is more environmentally intensive than you can imagine. Packaging a product requires materials, resources, and fossil fuel to make something that most consumers just generally throw away. Most of the packaging usually ends up in the landfills. There are three layers to packaging: primary, secondary, and tertiary. The secondary and tertiary is what end up in the land fills which is 2/3 of the overall package. Luckily, more and more people are getting educated on this subject allowing awareness in the government. More and more laws are being set up to help fix or decrease the problem.
My thoughts:
I thought that the idea making the packaging more appealing to the consumer eye is a really good idea. By making it more appealing, customers can use it for decoration. This in turn makes the customer want to keep the packaging reducing in less waste. Other than this, I also think that the government needs more laws on packaging. Just like how plastic bags are small things but can create a monster of a disaster, packaging can relate the same way. Actually, plastic bags could also be considered packaging. I think that we need to pay attention to little things like this as the more it accumulates, the more dangerous it gets.
